Back At It, In Full Force!!

Posted by admin on Oct 8, 2011 in General

My Family 127 It seems we’ve taken the entire month of September off with the exception of trying to keep up with overwhelming comments.
Of course September is my favorite month, as it’s my birth month. The changing of the seasons from the seering hot of summer to cooling down nicely in the evenings where the warmth of that bon fire feels so nice. It’s time to start planning where to put those house plants that have been enjoying the outdoors since last spring.
I hear the trout fishing at Roaring River State Park is amazing this year and many catch their daily limit with the enjoyment of being out in nature.
There was a big biker get together last weekend in Arkansas. I know several made the ride down there and back. Can’t remember how many motorcycles and trikes showed up. The ones I know that went were with a biker group called “BACA” That stands for Bikers Against Child Abuse. They’re a great group of people. We like what they stand for. We’re also glad that we havent heard of any wrecks or deaths from last weekends event. We had our own little bike show as they drove past the house on their way home.

It Rained this Morning!!

Posted by admin on Aug 19, 2011 in General

Stepped in a mud puddle going in first thing this morning. Had enjoyed the early morning thunderstorm and pouring rain that ended before time to leave the house. Sometimes we have to stop and really smell the roses these days with things getting so expensive.
Hearing of those who are having to choose sometimes medicine over food or others food over medicine. People who are having trouble making ends meet because of the economy and job market.
Honestly the cost of gasoline to go to and from work and the cost of babysitting for children are starting to cut into many peoples budgets if, they are still living with in their budgets.

Well here we are!!

Posted by admin on Aug 13, 2011 in General

The heat has past and we have had several days of rain. The grass is greening and some garden plants may survive.

The Zucchini and watermelon may survive. I counted 15 tomato plants and 4 pepper plants. Thinking about digging up the onions and tilling under the corn and okra and parsnips that didn’t survive.

I have a bag of dried green pepper seeds from a store bought pepper that I want to plant and get started and possibly bring indoors through winter then see if I can start a crop from them for the next spring.

Southwest to the garden.

100 Degree Plus weather!!

Posted by admin on Aug 5, 2011 in General, Grandkids

Rolling down the hill at Grandpa George's.

Rolling down the hill at Grandpa George's.

Well we know it’s hot these days when you walk out and the heat just takes your breath away. Walking to my vehicle to go home for the day. There is a glare on the pavement from the sun. It’s over 100 degree’s and thankfully I left the windows cracked open about an inch on both sides to keep it from being so overbearing climbing into the vehicle.

The main thing to remember is to drink pleanty of fluids and don’t overdo it outside in this type of weather. A person could go into a sun stroke really fast in this heat. Be sure to pace yourself and see if you can’t either do some outdoor chores early in the morning or late in the evening or both to avoid the boiling heat of the day. I tend to take the advise of our spanish friends and choose to have an afternoon siesta during the heat of the day.

What’s DIY? Do it Yourself…….

Posted by admin on Jul 30, 2011 in General

I believe there is another tab at the top of the page that reads fishing but that’s a different subject except for the fact that if your are fishing for sport no good, unless you are distributing these fish that (after caught have not much chance of survival) should be donated to soup kitchens and the poor in your community.

There’s nothing wrong with having enough money to keep yourself and your family happy and comfortable for the rest of your lifes. Then there is excess that a person being more well off than others could put this to work by helping less

individuals than their selves. Making a difference in the lives of others. Isn’t that what it’s all about

All the sponsers and advertisers that we have are not more concerned with how the job gets done. It’s more the that the job does get done to the satisfaction of the person spending the money.

If you haven’t checked out the tab at the top about DIY you don’t know much about this site yet!!!!!

Is this the end??

Posted by admin on Jul 23, 2011 in General

Saw a sign someone posted on facebook the other day that read “Satan called and he wants his weather back”. We have been having some really hot and steamy days here in the Ozarks. Lots of folks talking about if it was this hot in the past, when we were decades younger, or is there truth in that global warming everyone has heard about.

Our small little garden is starting to take on some shape and we are beginning to reap some of the rewards of planting the seeds and tending the weeds. Just the start of fresh ripe tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers and we are so looking forward to seeing the watermelons (that we just found) on the vines grow bigger each day.

When I was younger I remember in the hot summer time we spent at Grandma’s house and climbing onto the tin roof of her chicken house with a blanket to lay out in the sun and get a suntan. There was the creek that was just down the lane from that old chicken house and we could never go without an adult, but we would go walk up and down the creek that was never over knee high. I remember those slippery flat rocks on the bottom and trying to avoid them. Most generally we would end up soaking wet on our way back, but then our clothes would almost be dry by the time we made it back to the house.

These days there is so much complaining of nothing to do or that everything cost money. Will it ever quit raining. When will this heat ever let up. On and on complaining every day that we don’t have what we want or that we hate our jobs etc. etc. This incessant complaining from others causes those of us who truely do enjoy our lives no matter how simple they may seem, to dought that there is a reason for us to keep trying. I for one want my share of the sunshine and the rain and beautiful snow flakes that sometimes fall from the sky. I even enjoy seeing those huge pieces of hail that also cause havock on vehicles and other damage. Each day is a new challenge to see what we can make of it and I think time is too precious to waste on complaints.

Think there are some people who are planning on the world coming to an end in the year 2012. This gives them reason it’s alright to max out all credit cards and live way beyond their means because, if the world is ending in 2012 who cares. Right? I think there must be those in government who feel this way too. This must be why they don’t seem to care if the budget gets under control and they can threaten our people of using Social Security and other means needed by underprivilaged indivuals to take care of our national debt. I for one would like to see all elected officials layed off of work for an undetermined amount of time to stop paying their paychecks till this national debt is back under the “ceiling”. Is there anyone out there who has thought of putting our elected officials on the unemployment line?

United we stand we are the government.

Posted by admin on Jun 25, 2011 in General

I pledge alegience to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
I believe we started each school day by saying the pledge to the flag. At least clear through the sixth grade. We were taught to be proud of our country and for our flag and our freedom.
Today I’m not sure if they say the pledge to the flag at school or if they leave out the part about “one nation under God” or not. I hear so much bickering and complaining about the “Government” and how much they want to control us.
I’m truley horrified when I turn on CNN News and the news girls and guys talk about the President of our Nation and instead of having the respect to call him the title he earned and deserves, they say Mr. Obama, or Mr. and Mrs. Obama! When did we become so slack in respect for the leader of our country Mr. President or President Obama.
I heard much bad talk of former Presidents Bush Sr. Clinton and Bush Jr. but when the press spoke of them when they were in office it was much more respectful or seemed so to me.
By the way to those who like to bash the Government of the United States of America. If you live here. Take a long look in the mirror and who do you see staring back but the government. We the people are the government and United We Stand should be much more popular than it is these days.

What a beautiful Saturday!

Posted by admin on Jun 11, 2011 in General, Grandkids

In the back yard beside the pool and the camper we were watching our granddaughter jumping on the trampoline and then getting in to the swimming pool, back and forth then she was trying to pedal her little bycicle around the drive way. A baby rabbit cought our eye over between the car and old blue. Our little two year old granddaughter went to chasing it and went over around the pickup and back over to the other side of old blue and she was gaining on the little bunny getting a little closer and they started to make another circle playing (she wanted to catch it) and Grandpa called her to come and do something and the little bunny escaped.

Memorial Day is here again!

Posted by admin on May 30, 2011 in General

Well here we are back to another Memorial Day. There are so many things that have happened all over the world since the last one. Seems like one natural disaster after another. The earthquake/sunami-neuclear disaster that devastated Japan. There also have been volcano’s tornado’s and flooding.
Our hearts go out to those who are survivors of these tragedies and will be trying to rebuild their lives without the loved ones lost. So many won’t be able to vist gravesites as we have done in the past. Their wounds are still too fresh.
Let’s all see if we can leand a hand to a person in need wheather it be from a natural disaster victim or a person you see on the street who might seem to need a helping hand.
